ABOUT US
MTI College was founded in Southern
California in 1954. It was called Modern Technology Industrial College and its
mission was to train cashiers for the growing supermarket industry. Due to
demand for trained cashiers and staff the college grew to include several
branches and satellite classes located mostly in the Inland Empire. By the early
1970's the college boasted a student body of several hundred with major campuses
in San Bernardino and Irvine. The college was then known as MTI College Inland
Empire. The introduction of scanners in the late 1970's saw the demand for
cashiers decline dramatically and the college was obliged to close its branches
and satellite campus and to change its mission and direction.
So it was in 1980 that the college added
its first drafting program and became an Auto-Cad Training Center. The college
received recognition from local workforce and employment agencies and was
consistently recognized for its high education standards and its placement
record. In 1991 the college was granted Degree Granting Status by the California
Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education and relocated to Santa
Ana and opened a branch in Moreno Valley.
During the 1990s the college applied for
and was approved to offer certificate programs in architectural design, computer
operations and legal studies as well as dozens of shorter registered programs.
After 2007 a faltering economy lead to a dramatic drop in enrollment and the
college was sold in July 2009.

reflect the current needs of the job market it is the intention of the new

is dedicated to bringing the motivated student into a learning environment
taught by faculty who are experts in their fields. English as a second language
